what is dermaplaning?
all your questions answered
One of the latest celebrity endorsed beauty trends, Dermaplaning, also know as Kai Sori in Japan, is a safe and simple procedure that uses a surgical blade to exfoliate the epidermis and rid the skin of fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) in order to reveal a smoother, brighter complexion. The buildup of dead skin and microscopic hairs can make your complexion appear dull, flaky, and can even cause breakouts due to clogged pores and hair follicles. Which is why this form of mechanical exfoliation is essential for maintaining an even, healthy glow.
Gently scrapes off dead skin cells on the surface of your skin
Eliminates the annoying peach fuzz (fluffy hair) that cakes up in makeup (makeup goes on like a dream afterwards)
Instantly brightens your complexion leaving the skin glowing
Increases cell turnover, reduction in wrinkles and dark spots and improves acne scarring
Allows for greater penetration of active skincare products
Suitable for all skin types (except inflamed acne) particularly dry, sun damaged and dull skins.
Results last for up to 4 weeks
A less abrasive alternative to microdermabrasion
Will my hair grow back thicker? - contrary to what people may think, Dermaplaning will not cause the vellus hair on your face to grow back thicker or darker. The blade does slice through the hair giving a blunt end so like with shaving your legs, the regrowth can appear thicker but in actual fact is the same texture as before and grows at the same speed.
Is it suitable for acne skin? - whilst Dermaplaning can help to reduce acne scarring, it is not suitable for anyone with active or inflamed acne. You should wait until the complexion clears up before proceeding. Ask Undone Beauty for advice on the best way forward for this.
Is it painful? - No it is not. This quick non-surgical procedure is completely safe and entirely pain free. It feels akin to saving your legs.
Is there any downtime after? - Generally there is no downtime. Some clients experience slight redness afterwards which goes down very quickly. After the treatment, your skin will be highly sensitive to sun exposure so be sure to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation.
Can you apply makeup afterwards? - Its always nice to leave the skin without makeup after a facial. Especially one that will brighten your complexion instantly. But there is no reason
What does an Undone Beauty Dermaplaning treatment involve? - This professional 75 minute treatment will leave your skin red carpet ready with a beautiful glow. After a thorough deep cleanse, the Dermaplaning will begin. This takes approximately 20 minutes and is completely relaxing. Afterwards a mild glycolic peel will be applied to the skin followed by concentrated serums, such as Vitamins or Hyaluronic Acid, according to your skins needs. Lymphatic drainage massage, a intensely hydrating mask followed by LED light therapy will finish this amazing treatment. You’ll immediately look more radiant with a more even skin tone and texture. All of your peach fuzz will be gone, which is why first-timers say their skin has never felt so soft before.
